Virginia Burroughs is a life-long animal lover with a passion for mustangs and Pitties. She earned both her Bachelor's and Masters degrees at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and planned to earn her doctorate in order to pursue a career in academia. However, God had other plans for her life and now her passion is the growth and ministry of Redemption Ranch.
Our mission is two-fold: (1) rescue two classes of animals in need of their own redemption, Pit Bull type dogs and the American Mustang, and (2) transform those animals into therapy or service animals for people who have experienced trauma, including first responders and veterans with PTSD/TBI and their families, individuals who have exp
Our mission is two-fold: (1) rescue two classes of animals in need of their own redemption, Pit Bull type dogs and the American Mustang, and (2) transform those animals into therapy or service animals for people who have experienced trauma, including first responders and veterans with PTSD/TBI and their families, individuals who have experienced some kind of abuse or traumatizing event, and those recovering from addiction, depression, or loss. Animals rescued into our program may serve simply as emotional support/companions to highly trained PTSD service animals, with the ultimate goal of redeeming both human and animal.

Founded in April 2019 by Virginia Burroughs, Redemption Ranch earned its 501(c)(3) status just one year later. As we embark on our 4th year as an organization, we have rescued over 40 dogs and placed 30 of them in forever homes. We are growing both our service and therapy dog programs, having forged partnerships with a local retirement community and veterans' groups. In 2020, we were donated a young mustang mare, Wren, and she is the foundation of our fledgling equine therapy program. We have experienced phenomenal growth, in spite of the setbacks during the pandemic, and are excited to see where this next year takes us!
Your support and contributions enable us to continue to pursue our mission. We appreciate all donations!
